Description
During the month of June, the sun rises very early in the US State of Maine at about 4:30 AM. To reach this part of the state for a sunrise, I must begin at about 2:30 AM. In Maine, we are never really sure what we will get since the local weather can change quickly. Predictions can often be off by quite a bit. On this particular morning, I arrived at this location at Compass Pond at what normally would be the right time. I got my photo gear setup on a tripod and was about to begin when a very thick fog rolled in that completely obstructed my view. I waited, and waited for over 30 minutes without an improvement. I knew I had to check another spot for the golden earliest light so I packed and travel a few more miles to Abol Bridge. There, I was rewarded with some dramatic images although the air was extremely damp. Once I finished there, I decided to go back to Compass Pond. This image is one I took during my second visit at about 6:00 AM. The golden light had surrendered to the bright blues but it is an image that brightens the day. I hope that you will enjoy it.
